    Hi liz67836

Unfortunatley, I have little knowledge of diabetes, the pain you are suffering. I can only sympathize. As my pain is PHN post herpetic neuralgia, following shingles of which I had 3 years ago. Some days better than others yet it's always with me. I gather all pain is neuropathic as it's in the head. Listening to a pain clinic Doctor. I am therefore going to the Shingles & PHN section. Apologize for not being much help to you. Wishing you all the very best,

I've been thinking about getting the shingles vaccine. I worked in a pain center and know about PHN.

It does sound like the start of peripheral neuropathy. Monitor to see if it is worse at night as this can be another sign. You may also feel tingling, prickling, numbness. If you feel it is getting worse, see your GP about starting a medicine to reduce the nerve discomfort, such as Lyrica. Often persons who have discomfort change the way they walk to avoid discomfort, which leads to other problems. It sounds as though you are okay for now since it isn't painful.
