Urticaria (hive/rash) while on Carbimazole

I woke up yesterday morning with my chest and arms covered in urticaria (hive). I never had this before in my life and I haven't eaten/taken/done anything different in the past couple of days. Last night I have suffered from strong stomach pains which I still have this morning, not sure if this is related at all. Hive is as well still on today.

I am on 20mg Carbimazole since 5 weeks ago, my white cells count has lowered for two consecutive tests in these 5 weeks, suggesting a mild form of neutropenia (I had opened a post about that too). I have Graves' disease.

I am taking another blood test today and seeing the endocrinologist next week, however I wanted to know if anyone had hives/rashes and whether these are Carbimazole or neutropenia related.

I wrote to the endocrinologist but I am not sure she will answer today and my GP is off today.

Thank you

Yes I had a terrible reaction to carbimazole (itching, swollen legs) so had to stop. Was put on PTU but opted for RAI eventually and became hypothyroid but this has now been stabilised for the past 4.5 years with daily levothyroxine tablets.

Thank you AgW, can I please ask when you developed the bad reaction to Carbimazole? After how many days/weeks since start of therapy? Thank you

My swollen legs developed immediately and the terrible itching started within a week.
