Vertigo whilst tapering off Citalopram - advice please

Posted , 7 users are following.

I can cope with dizziness and nausea but I cannot cope with being so bad I cannot walk properly without banging into things and feeling so sick I am going to throw up, has anyone had this and if so, could you offer any advice of any medications or over the counter medications that can stop this, someone mentioned piriton tablets, am going to see my doctor.

My symptoms were caused by missing my tablet by 6 hours accidentally, and have gone from 20mg to 18mg liquid citalopram.

Other symptoms parathesia right leg, fuzzy head, memory issues.

I also have permanent internal tremors, instead of just in the morning.

what you are ex-spearing  is not caused  by  citrolopram .I think you may have a balance problem  caused by sinuses and i would suggest you go and see your doctor. Piriton tablets are used  for hayfever.

Thanks Marsh Piriton is widely used for vertigo apparently, my answer to being told that was the same as yours. I have tinnitus caused by meds, and its not the first time this has happened to me, i didnt put it down to cita, until now.

    Hi Paula,

I don't know your history with this drug, but it seems that you either kindled your nervous system by messing around with your dose, or you cannot tolerate any more this substance.

From my research, when faced with much lighter problems than yours, you will eventually recover but unfortunately only time will achieve this, with a lot of patience and support.

I could not find any supplement or medication to solve it, and people who started and stopping new drugs to recover, sooner or later ended up worse!

I cannot offer you a better advice, and last time when I mentioned a site which helps with these sort of problems, my comment did not appeared!

    Wish you a stable recovery.

Hi Koster are you able to private message me with the site name. I am extremely sensitive to meds. I was misdiagnosed for symptoms caused by medication, and the doctors and neurologist kept upping them and I ended up on a cocktail of meds and from October last year until a few months ago have been withdrawing from all but cita. I thought cita would be the easiest one to come off, and my plan is 10% tapers. Thanks for your message.

Koster, that site you gave me and your advice is spot on, I have been taking my doses at various times in the evening since my vertigo attack which was caused by accidently missing a dose which I took 6 hours later. My symptoms are all there, I have never seen that site before, I cant thank you enough and will join it.

Hi Paula sorry to hear you are suffering. Try some over the counter travel sickness tablets called avomine, they are safe to take with cit and also deal with not only the sick feeling but the dizzy/ vertigo to. I found them really helpful.

      Hi Paula

My aunt gets vertigo badly and the sickness with it. On her doctor's advice she take Kwells travel sickness tablets for the vertigo and sickness, they can be bought over the counter. May be worth mentioning to your doctor. Hope you feel better soon ?

Judith I only missed it by 6 hours then took one, I think Koster is right I am becoming even more intolerant to these, and any simple change is affecting me badly.
