Very Discouraged

Saw Orthopaedic today was hoping for better news.  Although my xrays from left ankle seem to be unchanged from 4 weeks ago meaning not seeing anymore healing.  So instead of getting boot off today and moving into a brace I am now back to non weight bearing and need to get CT scan done on Friday so they can see what healing has occurred.  I did have many fractures and have lots metal now although the ankle on inside of left foot is what is concerning doctor as it looks like it is not healing.  I also have many fractures in fibula not healed although fibula has a large plate screwed to it so that is not much of a concern.  I just feel like I am now going backwards after almost 12 weeks post op.

    Oh no so feel for you. This is hell. I do hope that better things are seen on mri. I'm dreading anything like this happening. The pain and discomfort I've had today worries me too. The feeling I'm getting of being able to feel the plate on right of my ankle (outside) has been for most of today. But I have always thought of the things that could go wrong and nothing positive. Big big fault in me. I hope all improves for you. Keeping fingers Xsd for you.

      Thank you.  I am so praying that CT Scan shows good things and that I am not in for more surgery.  Will find out next Monday.  Going to have test completed on Friday.  Hope that you continue to heal and get back on your feet.

    I am so sorry kimberly, l am also dreading not healing. I am 7 weeks post op from a left ankle fusion and have been in a moonboot for what feels like an eternity. I am stuck at home of my work. l can't drive and my husband does not drive. I am only 44 and in the last 2 years l have had 2 hips replaced and had my left knee replaced in august then l started getting terrible pain in my left ankle and had ostioarthritis in it as well. I though to myself this will be the easist operstion of the other 3 as it was just keyhole surgery and now there is 4 metal pins in it. But its been the hardest recovery ever firstly being in a cast for 3 weeks and to be non weight bearing which was impossible as l am wating on a right knee replacent. So hardly moved for first few weeks now l am in this monboot 24/7. I go back tommorow for am xray which l am terrified of incase l am not healing plus the moonboot stays on for up to 15 weeks. All he is gonna say is that l can start putting weight on the moonboot which l already am doing not through choice but because of my other knee. Or he is gonna tell me its not healing. I think l will have a breakdown if that happens as l am struggling wearing it being stuck in the hoiuse constantly

    I stay the country and l cant even walk to a shop.

    So l.know how you are feeling. I had hips replaced and a knee and within a few days was walking about and able to drive after 4 weeks. Ok the pain was much worse but if this ankle does heal in another month or so wearing this boot l am heading back to get knee replaced. Its never ending. I just want this boot of and be able to drive

      I can relate to boot.  Was in cast for first 4 weeks then this boot for last 8 and if I do not get good results from CT scan who know how much longer I will have it on.  I am only 49 and this is the first fracture I have ever had and I did it well as I have about 12 fractures all together my Fibula was in three pieces with about 10 fractures.  Then also fractured inside ankle in two spots.  And X-rays do not look any different than they did 4 weeks ago so just very frustrating that the healing is not occurring.  So want to be out of this boot and able to walk.
