Very painful anal fissures! Years of suffering here's my story!

Hi all I see loads of posts about fissures I thought id share my experience! For yrs now I've been suffering with ibs (constipation). I can be on the toilet for 30-60 mins per bm. After many yrs I plucked up the courage to see my doctor and had been given fibregel and laxido etc. Last year I was in total agony and cldnt do a poop and had to call nhs24 for advise, I went to out of hrs doctor who admitted me for 2 days and said I'd be put on surgery list for Botox. For months before hand I was the same for every bm the pain and the blood was terrible. I always felt like I was giving birth to another child ever time! My bowel opening was too tight with the spasms and everything. I'd be up all night and need 2 days to recover. I was sent home with diltiazem hydrochloride.Anyway after my stay in hospital I waited 3 months to have my Botox and had the colonoscopy too. I had to give myself an enima the night before! Surgery went great, I woke and kept passing wind but it felt great to not have to squeeze it out. Once I got home I was totally fine and pain free and the Botox worked wonders. I cld do my bm and be back out the loo in 5 mins! Total success but only lasted 3 months instead of the 6. So after my follow up appointment I was back on the list for 2nd lot of Botox and had to use the cream this time aswell. I originally had 3 raw fissures but after 1st Botox completed it went down 2 1.5 fissures. This time the botox failed to work at all and the cream wasn't so good either. Surgery that time had few problems for me (another story) and I was kept in. I was back seeing the surgeon on Thursday there and we have both agreed I need to have the cut made to loosen my bowel opening (a raw cut that will heal on its own and stop the spasms. Slight chance I may end up with slight incontenance but he said only like small skid marks. Hope to have new appointment in very soon!

I have had issues having BM for nearly 2 years. Even with laxatives, stool softeners etc can't get it out. Finally saw a specialist who diagnosed me with anal stenosis and fistula. Am going to have surgery to remove the stenosis (scarring). Hope it works without complications. Hope works for you. Isn't this all horrible and life altering?

Hi Kathy I'm sorry to hear your also in so much pain. It's the most horrible thing ever. I got my date in for my new surgery and it's the 23rd march. How bad is it that I'm counting down the poos that I will probably need to suffer before this goes ahead! I've tried to have a healthier lifestyle change aswell thinking that may help and have lost a stone attending slimming world for 7 weeks but surgeon said that won't make any difference at all 😤

Yes it certainly is life altering, I won't stay out over night at a friends or that as I feel so embarrased having to poo in the toilet and be there for 30 mins at a time. Nights out are the same, espesh if Im bagged up and need to make myself go! I hope this surgery def helps me this time. Also hope you get some relief after your surgery, when is that? Xx
