Very painful shoulders and exhaustion after long car journey

Hi everyone

I've just joined as been newly diagnosed by my GP but not seen a specialist yet. I am really suffering with extreme pain in both shoulders.  This started after I went on a 250 mile journey a week ago. We travelled there and back within 24 hours so was in the car for 11 hours over this time. I'm also extremely exhausted even though I hardly did any of the driving. Do others feel travelling makes symptoms worse? Thanks so much in advance.

    Hi Clarissa 33,

I have a sister in law with the exact same symptoms as yourself, but she has been diagnosed with Rhaumatoid Arthritis. When you do go to the hospital I would ask them to check.

Hi mags 1909 thanks v much for your help.

I did suspect RA myself after reading up on it. I've also got Crohns disease which is an autoimmune disease like RA so that may increase my chances. I will go back to the doctors and see if I can get a section opinion.

I haven't really travelled since my diagnosis but I do find sitting in the same position fora long time can cause me some problems. I find heat helps when my shoulders are at me.

Welcome Clarissa, you will be amazed at how grea the info can be on here...I can't do long trips either...I stop about every 20 mins..fir a lil stretch etc...and yes it's the shoulders too and I to get very tired, which makes handling any pain much worse...hot water bottles are sooooo good for pain too, I use one or two in the car..have a great Christmastime and a peaceful and joyous 2015..:-)xx.
