Vision getting worse post- surgery

My husband had his surgery 5 years ago and got multifocal lenses, though I'm not sure which ones, except Symfony wasnt yet available. Afterward , his vision was 20/20 or 20/15. He just had an annual eye exam and now his vision is 20/25 and 20/40. The opthamologist didnt seem concerned! Is this common?

I asked my surgeon about this during my first cataract consult. His response was that the eye tends to be very stable after an IOL implant. The IOL of course does not change power, but the surface of the cornea could change some. You may want to see a cataract surgeon for a more detailed exam of the eye to see what the issue may be.

Is the vision correctable to 20/20 with eyeglasses?

Did he see an Optometrist or Opthmalogist. I would suggest he goes to see an Cataract Opthmalogist to check for PCO or other issues.

Were they able to correct his vision? If so that might imply refractivity has changed over the years. Normally it is pretty stable in older people.

He saw an opthamologist for his annual exam. It turns out he only had the laser surgery on one eye after the cataract surgery , so he will probably need it on the other eye in a year or so. The one that is now 20/40. Still, even the other has gotten slightly worse.
