I have chronic nerve pain in the vulva area. It feels like yeast or bacteria burning but i am negative for everything except hsv2. It sort of moves around, sometimes its the labia, sometimes the vaginal opening.

I am told its nerve damage (vulvodynia) from chronic infections.

I dont know how long i have had hsv2 but i suspect a long time. I have either never had an ob or i get internal lesions only. I cant help but wonder if the vulvodynia is an atypical expression of hsv since they are both nerve disorders

      Really hard to say...

I have the same thing!!! I am positive for hsv1 (not 2) down there. I am pretty sure i did not have it for a long time because i was soooo sick when it happened...

Anyways, thank u for your answer, i know what is happening to me now.

I hope you are gonna get better soon!

      Take care of yourself!

I just Googled vulvodynia and herpes, and it appears other women have the same issue with both, with one derm website saying that vulvodynia can be brought on by herpes simplex or zoster. But I read elsewhere that frequent vaginal infections and antibiotic use could also be a cause.

      Youre dedicated lol !!!

Its confusing. Theres lots of stuff out there. Some say its not related, others swear it is.

Ultimately i guess it doesnt matter, except im worried about my level of contagen. I am afraid i might be caught in some incessant prodromal state. That would mean im constantly shedding, that would suck!!

Lol, too much free time and nothing better to do!

Vulvodynia itself does not presumably cause HSV shedding, so the issue is how to distinguish between vulvodynia sensations and HSV prodromal symptoms.

Kinda costly to do, but I have read that it's possible to have yourself swabbed for several days to look for shedding. Might just be a series of regular PCR vaginal swabs, I suspect.

I wish they would come up with an in home swab, that would be a great addition to the take home ph tests and pregnancy tests

I think that can possibly be arranged with your doctor. You'd have to enquire.
