waiting on results depressed

Had lesions swabbed couple days ago. I'm still waiting on results. I feel like I've taken A swift kick in the vagina...it aches so bad. Is that a normal herpes symptoms? I was diagnosed with a rare yeast infection and bacterial infection. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the sores are from yeast, but I'm so afraid it's herpes.

    what's going on down there?

    Any discharge with odor.?

What type of pain are you going through ?

I started out with what I thought was uti symptoms...burning while urinating, feeling like I still had to go when I was finished, frequently going, two days later burning during bowel movement, some itching, and what looked like yeast discarge. Went to Dr. Urine looked fine, cbc fine, negative for hiv gonnorhea trich and syphilis but positive for bacterial vaginosis and rare yeast. Day after I went to Dr I noticed red irritated spots by anus and labia. They both turned into what looked like ulcers. Very sore and itchy. Never had any odor.

      I don't want to call it .

But you might be going through an outbreak ...

Did you get swabbed for herpes ?? If so how long until you get your results back ...

The first outbreak is the painful .. It all sounds familar to me . But I don't wanna mis diagnosis the best way to know is for the results to come back .

Have you talked to any of your past sexual encounters and asked them if they had any past with herpes ??

Hard to say, but it could be herpes or a bad case of yeast, etc. Are either or both of your lymph nodes swollen in your groin? Do you feel achy all over, fatigued, generally unwell and/or have a fever? Frequent urination is not a sign of herpes, but painful urination is. When both frequent and painful, it's usually a regular UTI. Did your doctor suspect herpes or just the yeast, etc.?

No swollen lymph nodes, none of the other symptoms you mentioned besides fatigue. First time I went to Dr was urgent care he didn't even test for herpes...when I found out all of std tests he did were neg and I found couple lesions I went to my Pcp she said they could be herpes but she wasn't sure.

It's not necessary to have all of those symptoms, but if you do, then herpes would be even more probable. Hard to say with the other issues you have going on down there, but at least they swabbed the lesions, I take it.

Yea they did I about jumped off the table lol and they did blood test. I have a feeling it is herpes but then again I had convinced myself my gonnorhea or chlamydia was going to be positive as well. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm driving my husband crazy with my obsessing.

Dr called and i had ecoli in my urine. herpes bloodtest was neg but swab isnt back yet.

Figured as much, due to the frequent urination. Guess it could just be a host of issues, but not herpes. You'd expect the blood test to be negative if this were new infection, so it comes down to the swab (and another IgG blood test at 3 months, if you're still concerned). Hopefully you'll get the swab results soon!

Oh, so sorry to hear that! Which type did they say you have? So, between the various doctors and tests, you were confirmed (not just visually) to have herpes, yeast, a bacterial infection and a UTI?? Since your swab is positive but your blood test negative (hopefully by IgG, not IgM), that means this is a new infection, presumably from your husband.

Dr said was very new infection..well we had a threesome with a man recently. Idk what kind..there are different kinds? And omgosh yes i have all four all found on swab...well urine had ecoli :-(

My wife dosent even have symptoms either dnt know if it's a false positive im just scared

Yes, HSV-1 and HSV-2. It's important and useful to know the difference, so you should ask and find out. If they didn't type you, which would be annoying, you can retest for HSV-1/2 IgG antibodies at 3 months post-infection to find out. Your husband should probably test for IgG at 3 months p.e., too, whether he has had any symptoms or not. Sounds like the other guy wasn't "clean", but hopefully it's only Type 1.

Post the type of test you had done, and if IgG, your index values.

Ask for a copy of your lab results and post the details here. Many doctors are not up to speed regarding herpes and order the wrong tests or interpret the results too literally. It's not always so straightforward.

If this was a non-type specific IgM test, as I suspect, then it's essentially useless. IgM is not advised for herpes and is considered inaccurate. You need to retest by IgG.

So it's uset less ??? Then why would they tell me that
    • Posted

      So what does this mean?

Told you that many doctors are not up to speed with herpes. IgM is not recommended because it's not type-specific, does not determine recency, and is generally not very accurate. Google it and you will find many articles denouncing IgM testing for herpes. Think it's even mentioned on the CDC website. As a result, I would disregard your results entirely, and if you're concerned, retest for IgG by type. Remember, for herpes, always test by IgG, never IgM.
