Hi There.

Want to come off 30mg mirtazapine and 20mg of sertraline, was taking propanolol instead of sertraline for years but got diagnosed with reynards hence the change. Ive been on medication for 7 years but in the past two they have made me more lethargic, forgetful and I get sore eyes and dizziness. How do I come off tablets after so long?

i would do it with your doctors guidance as you may get some unpleasant withdrawal symtoms by just stopping.

Your doctor will help you to reduce the medication slowly to help reduce withdrawal symtoms

As lambchop has stated you must not just stop taking your medication, you will also probably find you need to take at least one other drug to help you transfer to zero drugs but don't put yourself at risk of slipping back into the same position you were in before

Drugs are not always the enemy it could just be you need a change, if you were suffering with something like high BP you wouldn't even consider stopping taking them would you

Talk this over with your GP

I've been on mirtazapine and venlafaxine for about 10 years and i am now very gradually reducing the mirtazapine. I take 30mg as 2×15mg tablets and i started by chipping the edge off one of the tablets for a few days until i was sure there were no ill effects, then chipping off slightly more for a few days and so on. After about a month i've got down to taking a quarter off (reduction of about 3.75mg) but i've been ok so far so i shall keep going at this rate.
