Warm Knee

I have seen that others have said they too have there operated knee become warm at the end if the day and that it's normal. I am just beginning to notice this now as well as still having some burning stinging sensations.

One thing I have recently noticed also is when doing recumbent bike my foot on operated leg overreaches the peddle. In other words the left leg non operated leg is not overreaching on peddle. It's where it should be. So now slowed pace and focus hard on placement of foot on peddle. Has anyone else had this problem? I had to really concentrate to keep foot in place requiring a pressing tightening up leg to keep foot from slipping forward. I can go really quickly if I allow foot to be misplaced but I feel the true benefit knee wise is to have proper footing. Anyone else u derstand this? What's natural for left is now not natural for right! rolleyes

The goal is to have both feet on the pedals at all times.  When each leg is fully extended (to zero degrees straight) its foot should be solidly on the pedal.  If the foot of your operated leg is coming off the pedal at full extension, then you are not at zero degrees yet.  Shorten the extension to keep the foot on the pedal as you gain rotation and strength.  Then move the seat back (or up) gradually over time to achieve that full, controlled extension.

Thank you will do. My operated leg foot is not like it should be on rotation. I need to press forward to keep it from sliding over pedal. This slows me down as well as takes a lot of concentration. It's not a natural thing yet. Weird is I brace for pain as I make rotation moving pedal forward but there really isn't any. Very strange feeling to anticipate something g so automatic and yet I am really alright where bike is set not to be excruciating. It's like right side is relearning how to work right again. TY

You have to learn how to walk all over again.  ROM is only one part of the recovery.  ROM, walking, strengthening, and mastering stairs.  The whole thing takes a year.

Don't "anticipate" and then deal with pain.  Do what's comfortable and then extend it just a bit...the progress is slow but worth it.  Click on my name/avatar and then "See All Discussions".  All these topics are fully covered.
