Was I just exposed?

Two weeks a go I was diagnosed with HSV type 2. I had been seeing this guy and had sex with him a couple times, with the last time being about 2-3 weeks before I got symptoms.

I got the bad headache, a stomachache, and flu like symptoms as well as very watery discharge. When I went to the doctor, he said my cervix was very inflamed. Then a few days after that I developed some sores. The sores weren't too terrible though.

I asked the guy I was seeing to go get tested, but he doesn't seem to want to and is trying to fade out of talking to me. This is very frustrating to me because I feel like I got it from him. Is there anyway to know if I'd had it for a while or not? If I had it in my system for a while before him, would I still have gotten the flu-like symptoms? Mostly just wondering so I don't drive myself crazy wondering if I got it from this guy or not.

You need to prove that you have herpes by direct swab test, and that you're still negative for HSV IgG (not IgM) antibodies. Seroconversion can be anytime from a month onwards, so do the IgG asap. That's the only way to prove if it's a new infection or not (positive swab + negative IgG).

Its always really hard to know with GH they say its sometimes hard to pick where you got it from, and you could get flu symptoms every time or never sometimes you can get just symptoms with no outbreak he seems like he needs to hit the road
