week 10 of fluoxetine still feeling anxious and flat...?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I've been taking fluoxetine for nearly 11 weeks now. and whilst my motivation is MUCH better, and my mood also better, I feel so flat, and my anxiety around people is still much worse on the meds than it was before I started them. Is this normal? will the anxiety catch up? I've heard that it takes quite a lot of people 12-16 weeks on this med, and sometimes a dosage increase, so I'm trying not to be too discouraged! if anyone with personal experience can comment it would be much appreciated! Xxx

They do not work but only anesthesize the frontal cortex of the brain and blunt ALL emotions. They have hundreds of adverse effects and the longer that a person is taking antidepressants the more adverse effects can happen. There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance in the brain. Some people have issues with metabolizing serotonin and it floods the brain. Taking antidepressants only makes it worse for them. Antidepressants interfere with the metabolism of serotonin and can cause damage to any and every part of the brain and body. If you decide to get off of your ssri, then it has to be done very slowly. Most doctors are uninformed about these drugs especially safe tapering. They take their patients off too quickly and they can end up with severe and protracted withdrawals. Recommend a taper of no more than a 5% decrease every two to four weeks. It is important to give the brain and body time to adjust to the chemical changes taking place. If depression and anxiety are not caused by trauma then it is believed that they are symptoms of something physically going in the body. It could be nutritional deficiencies or allergies, hormonal imbalances such as Thyroid disease or vitamin D deficiency, heavy metal toxins or chemicals, genetic defects such as the MTHFR gene defects and bad gut health. Antidepressants cause bad gut health because over 90% of all serotonin lies in the digestive tract. If you can find a good functional doctor that do the testing to find the root cause of your anxiety then you may be able to be helped better. Antidepressants only mask anxiety and depression and, in the end, cause anxiety and depression!

I didn't ask for a preaching lesson or to be condemned to hell for taking antidepressants. if anyone has helpful comments, they are welcomed.

Not meant to preach but tell you about SSRI's and what I wish I new when I started them 25 year's ago. So many alternatives that won't destroy your brain and are so difficult to ever get off of. Cognative behavioral therapy, magnesium, food changing, exercise.

I've been on 3 different one's over 25 year's and met alot of people that wish they would have known the truth.

You may eventually get to a point where your brain is numb on feelings and you may like it for a while. If you get tired of feeling sick and tired, look up Ann Blake-Tracy and SSRI's should be illegal and get the truth from 100s of other what are battling too get off of them and the damage they have done.

I say this out of experience and hopefully helping people.

Thank you for being totally unhelpful. I also have a first in psychopharmacology, which makes your comments all the more patronising. Please can you take your gospel elsewhere on an anti- SSRI forum perhaps. telling people to stop taking their prescribed medication really is at best unwise, and at worst, unsafe. thank you for no longer commenting, and I welcome helpful feedback from others on my original post.

Good luck. Talk to your professional doctor's and pharmacist. They'll know what to do.

I’m so sorry you’re having a rough time...I know how you are feeling, i’ve been on Fluoxetine for over a year now, first dose for 12 weeks at 20mg and 40 mg since. Initially the increase helped, but feeling like you say now - flat.. and anxiety creeping back in..Every time I feel like I give myself a push to lose weight (as have put weight on) and feel better, walk, swim, do things I enjoy, I feel a lot better instantly...but the momentum soon goes...and i’m right back down again where I started. Then its just such pressure on myself to start again trying to pull myself up, when I really want to roll myself up in a ball and sleep and not do anything. It’s incredibly exhausting and frustrating. All I can suggest is having a chat with your GP to see what they can offer you as far as advice, its alright for people to say give it time...but i’ve been there, and I do understand how it feels. Many ups and downs. I wish I had a magic wand for everyone so we could all feel better. X
