I'm on week 4 of my prozac, I am seeing my psychiatrist on Thursday. I first tried Lexapro and hated it and am now on week 4 of prozac. Its helped take away my chest pain and manage my anxiety, but I just feel so dissociated with myself and reality. I constantly feel like I'm in a dream with no emotion and just aloof with everything. Even though my anxiety has been more manageable, I feel like it's making me more depressed because I still don't feel like myself. I keep reading online that it takes longer than 4 weeks to feel better, but I don't know if I want to keep taking it due to the dissociation I'm experiencing. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Sorry that your feeling the way that you do. Im on day 3 and already experiencing anxiety bad and feeling dissociated with myself. I have spoken to another lady on here and she is now on 8 weeks and is now starting to get a few days of normality. I think these medications effect everyone different dont they but i think that they may take sometime to kick in full effect. Its all down to personal preference and what we feel is right for ourselves i think.
I hope you feel better soon x x x

In my worst days, I was feeling dissociated with reality for almost 6 weeks. It has nothing to do with fluoxentine because I did not get this when I started fluoxentine 3 weeks ago. The derealization is an effect of anxiety depression that was with me eight months ago.
Although you are feeling very bad now, I can assure you will be feeling much better after a few weeks.
