What is done in a MUA ? Is it an orthoscopic procedure ?

    It’s where the surgeon bends your knee whilst you are under general anaesthetic.  It’s a quick procedure and usually undertaken when you have trouble with flexion.

    Isn't that manipulation under anesthetic?  there will usually be no surgery, just  the surgeon manipulating the knee whilst you are asleep and relaxed.

    Like others said, not surgery, MUA is a manipulation under anaesthetic. You are asleep a few mins while the surgeon forces the bend while there is no resistance and breaks up adhesions and scar tissue that prevent bend. It is done when physio is not enough and usually followed by intense physio to keep the flexion. I had it done at 10 weeks post op and it did help.
