I went to the doctor yesterday, weight gain, fluid retention, low moods, fatigue, grumpy cow, no motivation. I am married not happily because he doesn't give a toss about me my 6 year old twin girls are my world.
I am 47 my periods are getting further apart blood test show last year I am in peri menopause. I hate feeling like a lump of lard, I was super motivated last month even ran 10k but I am 4 st overweight and although running changed my body I lost naff all weight.
Doctor has kept me on citalopram and ordered me to have full blood tests.
Am I normal?

OMG Ellie
You are so normal! How you feel, is pretty much how it goes. Is the doctor planning on starting you on something other than the citalopram? See what happens with your bloods and then go from there, you may have a thyroid thing going on because that has some of the same symptoms. If your bloods seem fine, then you'll know you're dealing with peri. I'm 43, married, 1 child. Have primary ovarian failure from 16 and only now on bhrt. I'm out the other sude in many ways, I still have days when I feel pants but I run, cycle, meditate now which has helped me a lot. Like you, my weight hasn't moved but bizarrely I'm a few dress sizes smaller, so I'm just not looking at the scale.... Go by how you feel. Are the anti depressants helping? Have you tried anything like homeopathy? Only ask because it's quite good to do a bit of talking
keep your chin up though, you're certainly not on your own with this love

Hi Ellie, I’d say your normal. This hits us out of nowhere, it did for me last year. Stomach troubles, etc... I lost a bunch of weight unintentionally, it scared me to death because I thought OMG I have cancer! But I do not. It’s hormones changing, Get all your tests, keep copies to ease your worry. I’m on an AD too for now. I’m 41. I know you are feeling miserable, but this is a great place to chat...we all getcha’ 🤗

OMGosh.. You are so normal!! I'm married too and we just don't get along.. I focus on myself and kids which is best!! I go through phases of feeling like a lump of lard too.. I try to drink lots of water and eat healthy options until it passes. Yesterday was the first day I took my bike out this year--yay. My kids were laughing but it was a big deal to me!! Just take it day by day and be good to yourself!!!

Definitely normal. And if you don't mind my asking, were your twins IVF or fertility drugs? That would add some affect as well.
