What kind of prostate problem is this? In a lot of pain for 3 months.

I've been in a lot of pain for the past three months. It started when I decided not to masturbate for one month (as opposed to my usual 5~7 times a week) as some sort of self-control experiment, since I felt a bit addicted. Ever since I've went back to my normal routine after that one month, I've been getting a lot of anal/rectal pain (increases when sitting), lower back pain, and testicular pain. This has been going on for the past 2~3 months.

I already went to see a Urologist, but he seemed to rule out "any kind of infection because I'm too young", without even doing any DRE. He had me do a pelvic ultrasound and confirmed nothing was wrong with kidneys and just said this was some sort of congestion/irritation of prostate (and that it was slightly big for my age at 19CC volume). He put me on a dietary suppliment for prostate health called Prostanorm for a 2 weeks now, but I have barely noticed any improvement, and still experience the pains above. I'm going to see another soon.

I do not have urination problems (neither burning nor high frequency) which are characteristic of prostatitis, so what could it be?

All I can tell you is that I had the TURP and it was the biggest mistake that i could have done. My urologist gave me the impression that I had no other choice. Well I made sure I went back to him and told him that Ive never seen any operation with so much negetave e-mails than the TURP and Im one of those people. Ive realised that after the TURP I also still had to urinate a lot and then I read that I have to strech my bladder and not to go and urinate every 30 minutes. Well it helped a bit but I found a funny thing with me was that I was eating a lot of very dark chocolate as I thought it was good for my heart and I also like it. But for some or other reason I found that the dark chocolate as well as very rough and healthy bread and Meusli wasnt good for me as it is suppose to be good for us humans. Every time I was eating a lot of corn Meusli or healthy breakfast serial I had to urinate up to about every 10 minutes. It also made me terribly thirsty. Also watch out for decaffinated coffee  I must be different to other people because white bread and milk choclate works much better with me. Maybe you have the same problem. At one stage I was drinking a natural drink to clean my liver and that was also making me urinate a lot. Hope this could help you

Sorry for your problem.  I wish the doctors would stop pushing that so much.     Alot of men have had a lot of problem with the turp.  When I was 47 I was told my a doctor that I had cancer.  He told me a turp would clear it out. And he told me all would be the same.  I told him I would like a second opinion He told me that I was wasteing time.  I told him it's my time.  At 47 I was going through a divorce and I was thinking ahead.  So I asked another doctor and he did a biopsy 8 needles in my prostate.  What a trip.  I did not have cancer.  It was a bladder infection.  That was 13 years ago.  I did have a urolift done in april  it worked great....I hope you get to feel better soon.  Men need to fo research before any procedure is done and don't let a doctor talk you into anything  Take care....Ken

Thank you for the advice I will try to examine my diet and drinking habits. However currently I do not like coffee or tea and I mostly take tea at business meetings for social reasons and coffee almost never. The multivitamins suggested above by Khaled are showing some relief in less than 24 hours (I combined them in a staggered fashion with pruna tea, stinging nettle root, cellfood longevity, and cellfood repair) - much less both groin and testicular pain, less urgency although still higher than normal. I am optimistic with time it will improve. The problem is I have been in a bad condition for too long (3yrs plus) so it might take a long time for the symptoms to disappear if ever they will.

Ken is absolutely correct. Do your research, be your own advocate, and don't let a doctor talk you into anything you don't understand completely, and agree with completely. You can and should get a second opinion. Be suspicious of any doctor who discourages you from getting it. It's not that all doctors are stupid, money grabbers, or unethical; but just like any other profession, some are. It's your body, and the stakes are too high for anything less.

I wish I knew that before the TURP but I thought that Urologists are specialists who have studied for at least 14 years to do their profession and that I could trust the man. Of course when I I went back to him after the operation and told him that a urologist said, on one of our TV shows that a patient should be fully informed he was very quick to tell me that he know the man and that he is one of our most useless professors in South Africa. Well I rest my case. I think if i could have another chance I would defenately try the "useless professor" on the TV show.

When the urologist told you that you need a turp. Did you ask if they was any thing less invasive he could try.  And if he said no I would have went a saw another doctor.  But whats done is done.  I hope you don't go back to him.  Please men get as much information you can before they start cutting away  Ken

Your description of symptoms is exactly how mine started "....... a lot of anal/rectal pain (increases when sitting), lower back pain, and testicular pain". Most of the time the sharp and extreme rectal pain would start soon after having sex with my wife and she would think may be she has hurt or injured me in the sexual encounter but I would assure her "NO and it is something that I do not understand" and I would describe the pain to her. The pain would make me want to stool and I would force myself to stool and it would take about 30 mins to an hour for the rectal pain to easy up after stooling. I visited doctors and they were telling me to do more exercises, I was too young for any prostate problems according to them (I was about 38/39 yrs then). With time this gradually deteriorated to the bad situation I am in at the present moment (in about 7 years). I believe my problem was I was not aware of any OTC herbal medicines for this condition which I think is most likely a prostate problem. I think If I had started much earlier on to take supplements to keep the prostate health, then my condition would not have deteriarated very fast. So my suggestion is try to take supplements that are being suggested from anecdotal evidence in this forum to keep the prostate healthier may be . I think this might help.

Greetings to group members. I went quite for about two weeks because I wanted to assess the progress before posting. I just want to share with you that I am currently progressing well after starting taking multivitamins with minerals about 2 weeks ago. I am still taking stinging nettle, pruna tea, and some Cellfood supplements but I think it is the multivitamins with minerals that are bringing  a lot of relief. My pain and discomfort is not completely gone but is getting less by day and i hope it will get to a point where it is completely gone. Most of the time these days instead of pain I am feeling a discomfort that alternates in the area under the right testicle and at times the back of the right thigh where it meets the buttock.  My belief is since I suffered for a 3 years it will take time for the gradual healing process to be completed. I will try to include an anti-inflammatory in the stuff that I am taking and see what happens and then I will try to post another update after two weeks. Thanks .
