i suffer from impetigo on average twice a year. It appears just above my top lip . Normally after I have had a runny nose . I tried using Dettol neat, just a little dab on the area effected . I do this when I get that feeling it's coming on. I don't wait until its full blown. And it seems to be working for me . Last time I used no cream or antibiotics. It's recently appeared again . And it's seems to be working again. Hope this is some help. But maybe dilute the dettol first and see how you get on as it can sting a bit neat .

Sounds like a product I might have to hunt down, have not seen Dettol before. I see they make a cream, soap and liquid; don't know which you're using but am willing if I can find it or a generic. Over the past few days, I decided to use no more of the mupirocin or the hydrocortisone for a few days to see what happens since I've more or less used tiny bits of one or the other almost daily. I think I've got a rebounding thing going on. Runny nose was back, gone now, nose fine. I do have the top lip flakiness and still some tiny seeping that has not gone away completely. I'm using a generic mild liquid cleanser twice a day with a washcloth to remove most of the flakiness. Then I tried some Triple Lanolin yesterday and finally got some relief, mouth feels and looks better (this is after trying Aquaphor, coconut oil, olive oil, petroleum jelly, cocoa butter, Vicks Vaporub, etc. for relief). The lanolin even helps get rid of flakiness, redness and chapping. I just hate returning to the doctor, thinking this is going to be an ongoing thing. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm real curious about the Dettol.

Hi, you can buy a bottle of just normal Detol . It's orange in colour. Good to put a cap full in your bath . But I just put a little on the tip of my finger and gentle put on the affected area . I put on neat but be careful depending on what area. May dilute it down slightly and keep away from eyes .

Okay, if no progress with what I'm trying now, will give it a try. Thanks much, all the reviews say it's been around forever and is a really good product.
