What's the best way to slow down fiber tablets causing a need to use bathroom frequently in p.m.

I get woken up five or six times during sleep to use bathroom. I take 4 fiber tablets at night for lower urinary tract issues. Thank-you.

Perhaps try taking in the morning instead? I do that with bp meds to improving effect.

    Hey Mark

I was doing some reading up on the fiber tablets. The article that I read said nothing that fiber helps urinary issues. What is the grams of the 4 pill. It said that if you take 50 grams or more a day it isnot good for you.

Have you been to a doctor yet for the problem. How much do you drink during the day.You may have to cut down.Try a hot bath before bed. It may help you empty your bladder.

Walmart's & Target carry urinary products if you don't want to go to a doctor.

Thanks for your response Kenneth. I take the tablets to help me create a larger stool and help my urination easiness at the same time. I have LUTS, which stands for Lower Urinary Tract issues. I take a long time to urinate. Right now it is taking about 25 minutes to one-half hour or a little more. I don't know what the S in LUTS means but I have the paperwork, but just haven't studied it yet.

      Hey Mark.

The S stays for Symptoms. Have you tried taking a hot bath to get you to pee better . I know it help me sometimes when I feel I have not pee a lot.

After I had my procedure Urolift 4 years ago my doctor put me on a stool softer but that is the only time I took it.

I guess the pressure from the large stool pushes on the prostate to get you too pee. Never heard of that. But we have to do what we have to.

      Take care....Ken

I have a similar issue with multiple bathroom trips at night, but mine is caused by urine retention AND I have found that certain supplements I take increase bladder irritation. So, by eliminating the supplements one by one I have been able to figure out what is irritating my bladder. I was using Stevia as a sweetener but that caused bladder irritation, so after I stopped it my bladder calmed down.

In your case, you need to look at why you are taking the fiber tablets in the first place. You need to look at your diet - are you getting enough fiber? What do you eat? Are you eating enough whole grains and vegetables? Are you eating highly processed carbohydrates with low fiber content? I would change my diet first before taking tablets.

I have also found that adding a bit of olive oil to my food helps with constipation, if that is an issue for you.

Stop taking the fiber tablets. They will cause constipation unless you drink lots of liquid. And if you drink lots of liquid, you will need to pee very often.

First, don't eat or drink 3 hrs before going to bed.

Second, if fibre tablets have a negative effect on you then ask your doctor or pharmacist what to use to replace it.
