Hello .

I'm wondering if any of you ladies can help please . Ive been in this peri hell for 2/3 years initially i was made aware when i had abdo pain - which were diagnosed as ovarian cysts . I am 46 - I'm extremely anxious all the time i cannot drive any more & I don't work at the moment I am really struggling to leave the house - I am experiencing panic attacks & throwing up . I do have ocd ( cleaning ) I did have a bug before xmas - but since then my symptoms have really ramped up ! the aches / sweating/ bleeding lack of then not bleeding when i expect to . The suppliments I have been taken (had a little relief but not much ) aren't working anymore & the sweating & anxiety is really affecting me now - so I'm just wondering if I am coming to the end of peri ? What signs did any of you ladies get when you were moving to menopause please? Or is there no such thing ? Does meno just happen ? Any tips or advice would be greatfully received !! Ive also been refused HRT from gp - I'm so sorry for the long post !! but I'm struggling - a lot x Rachel x

Well, peri and menopause are used interchangeably by many on here. But peri is the time before your last period. Menopause is the year after your last period (though you don't know until a year has gone by lol) Post menopause is one year onward from your last period. I am 2.5 years post menopause. My FSH from my Gyn was 86.4 two years ago which verified my post menopause.

But, as far as issues go. I can say the only perk is I don't have periods any more. My "symptoms" changed. I have severe osteoarthritis now. I have reoccurring heart skips and irregular beats. I get left breast pain regularly. I have had everything checked out. I have a pain in my lower left side that I don't know from what. Feels like an ovary but I have had multiple vag ultrasounds and it is not my ovaries (though I do have cysts). Everything checks out. I have chronic pain. I personally don't really have hot flashes any more. I did take evening primrose for breast pain and it worked awesome for night sweats and hot flashes besides breast pain but my NP says it can cause palpitations. So I quit taking it to see if my heart beat issue stopped, it has so far but don't know if it coincidental.

Anyway I don't want to lie to you and have you thing (like I used to) that once your periods stop and you move to post menopause that everything will be 'normal'. I had a horrible peri and my post is specific issue hell.

Maybe for you things will be different. I think that your issues will evolve and they may even go away.

For me the only signs I had that I was moving into menopause was erratic periods that eventually stopped. But I went months without a period then would have one and another then stopped and then heavy and then just stopped altogether Oct 2017. I am 51 yrs old (52 in April).

I recommend quitting caffeine if you haven't already. I take chamomile pills for calming.

Hang in there, this too will pass. I have to tell myself that ever day.

    xx Kelly

Hi, Rachel. I have no advice in regards to when you move into meno. I'm still struggling in Peri and have for the last year and 3 months. All I can say is that I was like you. Afraid to leave the house, so anxious and literally my life stopped over night. I had to try meds. I was so severe. Both made me sick. Tried for 6 months to tough it out and my symptoms got worse. I just started Lexapro and it's been the only med to help start to calm me and I tried EVERYTHING. I would have been hospitalized when this initially hit if it wasn't for my family. I never had anxiety before peri hit. It is brutal and I feel for all that are suffering from it. I hope you find something that helps you. I have no idea where I am right now through this journey although I think my symptoms started long before I realized I had them and I just started skipping and having 2 cycles in a month the past couple months. Hoping I come to a stop soon and meno isn't as bad. Eat right, rest, try and stay positive. We are all with you. xo
