When do you truly feel better?

Hi there ladies. I'm now 3 weeks into my phased return to work and this week did 2 full days and 3 halves. Of course the reality of going back to teaching is you do much more than your hours in school as has always been the case. I have a bit of a low ebb mid week, pick up a bit and now I'm flat out lying on the bed this Friday evening. I feel so sore at times and wondered how long will it take for these pains to go? Is it because I'm still not healed or is it that my under used muscles and joints are taking time to get back to normal? How is everyone else finding it?

If you were feeling OK before you went back to work then it sounds like your job is too much for you at the moment. I have just returned to work after 6 weeks off after a vaginal hysterectomy and anterior repair and I have been so lucky that my recovery was an absolute breeze with no pain or discomfort at all (I believe this was down to my surgeon who is brilliant). I took daily walks from the first week and was jogging by the fifth week. I am fortunate that I only work 3 days a week in a solicitor's office so I'm not on my feet all day.
I really feel for you and the other ladies on this site that are struggling to get back to normality and I hope that things get easier for you soon.
If you are able to get signed off work for a bit longer I would consider doing this otherwise you may push your recovery back even further.
Best wishes.
Shani
