When is it safe to have sex again after front and back prolapse repair ?

Hello I'm 5 weeks post off and I can't figure out how the leaflets and my gyne doc both say you can resume sex after 6 weeks ? Bi you can't lift anything heavier than half a kettles worth for 12 weeks but you can have sex at 6 weeks, how does that work ? Also I've only seen 1 lot of stitches come loose so surely if there still in there sex would cause an issue ? Any info or advice please. I don't think I will trying that for a good month or so yet BUT I have these questions that puzzle me x

Hi Patricia. I am now 6.5 weeks post op for a rectocele repair. I felt pretty much normal again since 5 weeks post op. No pain, no more of that heavy dragging feeling. My doctor did an internal exam and said all my stitches were dissolved. So, I attempted sex at six weeks! It was...not bad. But not great. Definite discomfort despite the fact that he was very gentle and slow. And the next day, I felt pretty tender. So...I think I will wait another week or two before we try that again sad

Hi Patricia. You don't say if you've had your post-op check, or maybe your Urogynaecologist isn't going to do one? I had a 6wk check post anterior repair with TOT sling, and my Urogynae gave the all clear for sex at that visit. It horrified me, so we didn't attempt it until a few weeks later. Husband said he didn't want to hurt me doing it. It also wasn't great. Fully worked though, but entrance was painful and remained painful during and after for a while. Everybody on here was advising loads of lube when you do try.

Patricia you don't always see your sutures when they come away from your wound, I never saw any in the loo or in my underwear.
