Hi, I have a similar problem but my coating is slightly more yellowy.  I used to eat a lot of dairy which made it worse and I also eat loads of sugary products.  When I cut down on both, the coating on my tongue is worse.

Have you checked with your doctor to see if you have oral thrush? That creates a white coating that won't go away.   If you don't have oral thrush, what is going on in your tongue is often related to your digestive system, so it might be worth Googling foods that create a coating on the tongue.

    Hope this helps.

thrush does not cause a white coating. It is sploatches of white in your mouth, but not a coating. And it can be quite uncomfortable to have.

I used to get a sort stretchy white coating in my mouth that I could literally peel away.  I had no idea what was causing this.  Then I read an article about the symptoms of an allergy to toothpaste. A white, stretchy film is one of the symptoms. So, I switched toothpaste and the problem stopped.  I find that whitening toothpastes seem to be the culprit for me.
