Whjat happened to all the old timers?

Seems a lot of the guys that were on this forum when I signed up don't post any more. Have they been cured, or given up?

Hi Fester - I found this forum while searching for info on Urolift. My doctor has recommended I have this procedure. I've looked at some of the responses here. But from what I see in your post - most of the guys that have posted here have stopped. Did you have a Urolift done. If so, what is your experience and recommendation. This is the only place online I have found so far where men are discussing their experiences. I'd welcome any feedback you might have. I am in USA. Thanks, Allen

      Hi Radartech,

I never had a procedure. I'm only of the lucky ones that responded well to finasteride. I have very good flow (~20ml/sec on a good day a little slower on a bad) . I've been holding out hope the one of the injectables would be FDA approved . Google Nymox if you're interested.

I private messaged a couple the very regular posers but haven't heard anything. Plus, by clicking on the circle next to their screen name you can see their last post. Kenneth1955 was very regular poster he hasn't posted in 3 months. J12080 it says hasn't posted in 13 months. Camster last post 9 months. Some had procedures but stuck around to give advice, Maybe I'm doing it wrong. Also, the way the forum is setup its very difficult to find new posts in large threads.

      Hi Radar,

Yes, I used to be on the forum every day for years, then they made chnages that made it almost unusable. I'm going to give it another try now. Sorry, can't help with your Urolift question. I had a PAE.

Hey Unc, it's Rich from the Catskills. I stopped using the forum after they made those changes. Juts didn't work for me. I'll give it another try now. I saw the thread asking for feedback... maybe they'll fix things. Sounds like you are doing well. I had a PAE 4 years ago. I'm just starting to have symptoms again, so time to see what my options are at this point.

      Hi uncklefester,

The mentioned company(N....) looks like having difficulties. I dont think injectables will be available near future.

why dont you think of aquablation. Some reviews are encouraging.

Urolift didn't work for me and has left me in constant pain for over two years now. I had to have a subsequent TURP but still the Urolift pain is there. Uro thinks a clip and a nerve could be hooked up; not great . He says he could try cutting the clip ends to relive tension but that would involve yet another operation so I'm not sure about it especially as the line and the other end of the tag is left in anyway. Looking back I wish I had not tried Urolift and gone for a procedure where nothing is left inside you so your body can heal itself naturally.

    Unclefester,

It's because of Covid. I used to get emails whenever someone posted in a discussion I was following, but I have not received any for 6 months now. I have to log in and look at my notifications to see posts now. I tried changing my nickname from "thomas37368" to "TKM" thinking I might get emails again but it didn't make a difference. I have also wondered what happened to the "oldtimers". I still see a few here like yourself. In particular I have not seen posts from Jim James. I also noticed that a lot of the posts here don't have many replies like they did before. It's too bad because I was getting much of my information from this site. I have been following this site for 3 years now.

Keep posting we will get it back,

    TKM (Thomas)

Yup, JimJames is another one that I've looked up. The guy was very knowledgable about CIC hasn't posted in 6 months. Richp21 lives in my area hasn't posted in 6 months. . Maybe the forum is just screwed up. I haven't received email notification in years. Error on forum says my email addy is wrong but its not. I've been here for ~ 5 years and I'm very thankful for the site. It's been a wealth of information but its poorly done.

Oh, and above you'll see another problem. My post to Radartech ( which was kind of lengthy) is being "moderated" . So stupid . I mentioned a newish drug and the moderators censored it. Its getting like Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I'll reply (again) to Radartech when I get home from work

Yes I miss all those regulars...I think it is something to do with the new layout of these forums they just do not seem to show replies and there doesn`t seem much continuity anymore...

      I had TURP in JUNE 2019 ...

I had a TURP in Feb 2019 so I'm coming up on 2 years. I posted frequently in the month or two post-surgery to extoll the benefits of this procedure. I pop in occasionally, mainly to counteract the anti-TURP folks (most of whom have not had the procedure.) I wouldn't claim it's right for everyone but it was right for me (Urolift was not an option) and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I think in most cases people who know longer have a BPH problem see no reason to hang around a forum like this.

I looked upon Jim James with respect but thought he was wrong to continue CIC and not to look for an operation such as Turp or another type.

I Messaged him for advice about CIC as I was doing it at the time of my OP and afterwards for a while also...He was very gracious with his time and really wanted to help others.

Yup very helpful guy. Talked to j12080 a couple of times on the phone about his FLA results.

It looks like the forum has been so messed up that they've all left, including me. There's no setting I can check which will correctly send me notifications on any thread I'm following. After awhile you just stop trying.

If anyone has found another forum as valuable as this one that actually works, please let us know.

Yes steve the forum is totally FUBAR. now. It was a God send when I was first diagnosed with BPH. I very thankful I found and for all the good advice I received along the way.
