Why wont the doctors do anything.they think its this they think its that but wont send me for any tests they have said they THINK its nerve related so why not send me for an mri or a nerve conduction test so the problem can be found and sorted its so frustrating im in agony daily.

Hi Zoe they have put me on 1800 mg of Gabapentin and 600mg of duloxotin a day which has helped a lot with my nerve pain apart with some break through so there are drugs that can help, although you can get annoyed when they can't find any cause for it.

All my pain is in my upper body arms neck and back but the hardest to deal with is the pain in my chest its so worrying may ask to switch back to amitriptyline maybe i didnt give it enough time because the pregabalin isnt working at all.

How long have you been on the pregablin? I know it's down to trial and error to work out what works for us but it has worked for me. I would be going up the wall without it

Hi Zoe ,and all smile Nerve pain is notoriously hard to treat even once they give us a diagnoses . I've just been to hospital today after a 9 month wait ! to see a consultant who was 40 minutes late smile for a 15 appointment ! BUT at least he is sending me for a full back and leg mri. This will be my third in 5 years ,and i am hoping to get nerve tests if needed. I have had lumber stenosis ,facett joint arthritis and spurs for the last 5 years that are compressing nerves and cause my leg and lower back pain, but this past 12 months I have thoracic, cervical, pain that is affecting my arms and hands. I am on gabapentin 2100mg a day ,plus old cocodomal ,movlat gel for arthritis in hands/wrist and apart from making me sleepy they dont do anything for the pain..Ive tried others and have had no help from them. Sadly a lot of managing nerve pain is learning to live with it,pacing, changing how we do things. I hope they help you soon, best wishes jan

Oh, how I can relate.  Two years ago I had my left foot operated - hammer toe fixed, etc.  6 months later the Dr confessed that the surgery didn't work so he operated again.  This time he fused every toe.  Within the next 6 months the pain had gotten worse so saw another Dr.  He decided I needed to have my second toe/joint amputated.  Now the pain continues and hinders walking, which I love to do.  Went to Dr last week and he sent me for bone scans.  Wednesday saw the Dr to get bone scan results.  He says nothing broken but kept pressing on various spots on my foot, sometimes causing me to rise out of the chair it hurt so bad.  He just kept pressing on that spot and each time I kept telling him YES it hurts.  Final verdict - he thinks it may be an inflamed nerve.  Options are to surgically remove the nerve which would cause my toes and part of the foot to be forever numb.  Other option is learn to live with the pain.  GREAT! just terrific options.  And, I already take 800mg Ibuprofen every 6 hours as well as 3200mg of Gabapentin daily.  Is there just no resolutions to these pains?

Greetings from across the big pond...

over here there seams to be a lack of coordination between the speciality dr's and you have to really be a very active advocate for your health.

I have preferal neuropathy and osteopattic arthritis So I have two kinds of pain ,neurological and arthritis pain and they have to be treated differently. I take Celebrex and adderall for the aritis and nothing for the neurological pain.the Celebrex and the adderall help with the nerve pain for some reason.

It took a long time to find this combination so that I can function and get around. It still hurts but not as bad as before. I have been in the hospital 3 time in the past year because the pain was so bad.

I have been treated with just about every pain medication for artritus and neurological pain up to morphine with no real relief.

our medical system lets me email my doctors and this seams to facilitate colabration between doctors because if I email one doctor they all see what I say and what doctor I am talking to says.

Aross the big pond you may not have this available to you but I have just started using medical marijana with some sucess for the neurological pain but I am still trying different types and ways of using it. It's going to take some expermation to get it to work I think.

persevere and never give up.....you will find a solution.

Hi Joh13240 smile I think we in the uk are slowly slowly getting to an a one emailsystem,at least in certain counties. I have very similar pain, osteoarthritis and neuropathy . I have been tempted to try medical marijana but have yet to find it here . i would be concerned how it would interact with my other meds but i think i'd try most things to shift at least some of this pain..even for a little while smile yes a smile does help and ofcourse a sunny day wink

Yes a sunny day helps it takes your mind off the pain. Also I find that a glass or 2 of wine helps 😁

It works differently and and doesn't seam to interact with anything that I now take. I was told that it will inhance any opiate drugs, you may be able to drecease the dosage of the opiate drug.

      think happy thoughts...it helps!
