    Hi Cat,

I went through a phase where I either couldn't fall asleep or woke up several times every night. This was accompanied by heart palpitations and feelings of anxiety. In the past few months, I've had some nights when I woke up not being able to take a deep breath and feeling anxious. Very disturbing. When this happens, I get up and walk around the house for a while. This seems to help with the breathing. I also like to read until I feel sleepy again. No TV and no looking at my phone! That only makes it worse.

I've been taking Melatonin every night before bedtime for almost a year now. It seems to help most nights. I also read on this blog that Magnesium helps, but I haven't tried it yet.

I hope this phase passes soon for you.

    Take good care,

    Dana

      Thanks so much Dana.

Sigh I haven't found melatonin very helpful for me unfortunately, nor magnesium really, beyond giving me a touch of diarrhea.

The weird thing is, I will just wake up, alert -- not anxious or anything -- just awake (sometimes a bit warm). And then I lie there, literally bored out of my mind. If I go to bed at 10, I'd wake up at 4. If I go to bed at midnight, I'd wake up at 6. It's like my body is saying ok! 6 hours (or 5!)! time to get up! So frustrating.

You take good care too, hugs X
