why not be the same as the older generation

I am old enough to have witnessed my grannies, mother's and my menopause.
Well here is the thing there is a myth out there that they just got on with it ...my arse..... I was there when the older generation would walk into rooms happy and ten minutes later wouldn't want to speak to you ,they were down all the time or in my case you would phone ask how they were and they wouldn't want to speak
Let me tell you I love my mum to bits but she is still the same and aunties are changed people the only thing different with us is we can talk to you lovely ladies (so much cheaper than smashing things ) about our s**t.
Ladies I'm afraid I'm going to continue contacting you all and getting all the problems off my mind and giving my advice on some of your problems. Sorry!!! ....... lol.

I do agree with you, Heather. My mom and Gram both had a hysterectomy fairly young. They said they felt SO much better and encouraged me to have one as well. My mom takes compounded bhrt to this day. Gram was given hormone injections back in the day, and she said she'd feel better before she left her doc's office. I was raised by my step mom, who had hrt back then, and when she went through menopause she was a total B. She admits that. I've not had one friend or family member who has suffered like we do. It is such a relief to have you ladies to help get through this hell. Before this forum I did my fair share of fit throwing. 😆 Things are much better knowing we're not alone! Hugs

Fantastic post heather2! I didn't realise until reading this forum that lots of my symptoms in the past and present were down to the menopause, I thought that hot flushes and mood swings were the only symptoms, I'm afraid I was one if those who got on with it, 63 years old, post for 10 years, still getting symptoms and only just realising that some of my past and present symptoms were actually menopausal!! I think it's great how younger women on here are confiding in each other!!!!

My mom and aunt make it sound like menopause was no big deal NOW and that they didn't notice. But I recall growing up my mom constantly complaining in her 40s about going through "the change" tho now she forgets. And my aunt said she felt so great on hormones but they took her off because of all the previous cancer concerns and now she lost her hair. Of course none of them had a giant fibroid like me. 😦

hi heather,
a lot of the older generation just didn't speak about it. and some become reclusive and in their own private hell. then there are those seen as mental cases and put into mental hospitals with hysteria and neurotic tendencies. others are drugged to the eyeballs and of course we have the ones like. my mother who said she sailed through hers.😡 I on the other hand know that if i had been born back then would have spent more than half my life locked up, if i even survived that long. my family are not around to see what i go through most of the time and when they are here i put on a brave happy face for them. we push on and try to enjoy what we can.

Totally agree, it is a myth, a lot of women suffered like us... I remember my mum was terrible with symptoms through her early 40's, she then went on HRT and became Wonder Woman just about overnight... I'm on HRT and feel not much better at all now. 😦
So glad you guys are all here to rant to and I know you all understand which is such a help to me as my own friends don't get it as they're just not going through this hell like I am.
So thank you all!
