Will this ever work??

Hi all! So...update on my sertraline journey thus far:

Started 50mg on 9th January. Tapered up to 150mg 23rd March. 7 weeks on 150mg. I feel a little improvement but overall still very anxious, still body scanning for signs of the next panic attack, still nowhere near being better.

My question: is it still early days for 150mg or issertraline not the med for me?

Thank you all and hope everyone is keeping well xx

Hi Gabrielle.   I would say taking it since January you should expect to be feeling lots better by now but the only person who can say for sure is your doc.   Perhaps as you say sertraline isn’t the best fit for you which really sucks if that’s the case but sadly it’s often the way, sometimes it’s a bit of trial and error till you get the right med for you.   Personally speaking I think you have gave it long enough and should go back to gp and ask to try something else.   X

    Hi. Gabriella,   .

I agree that’s along time, if it’s going to work you would have been feeling better by now.

    Never mind, try something else.

I’ve  been on 5o mg for five weeks and I still feel  Axiours.

God bless hope you sort it out.🙏

Sounds like you need to try something different.  I'm at 6 weeks and I feel a lot better.

Sertraline isn't for everyone, but don't worry, there are plenty of other excellent ADs out there.

Thank you for your replies everyone. I think my GP wants to increase my dose to 200mg but I feel so tired on the 150mg that I don't think I want to do that. I was on cipralex for years and it worked well until suddenly it stopped working. I know the sertraline is doing something but nowhere near as effective as I know an AD can be.

I think you need to be firm with your gp that you want to try something else.  200 is a hell of a dose to have to take, I wouldn’t settle for that.  It really annoys me when folk feel bullied into taking high doses when in fact a change of med is needed, you are only a number in the nhs, be a loud one and make sure he hears you.   X
