withdrawal symotoms

hi everyone. I am seriously thinking about coming off pregabalin as its side effects on me are horrible. I get muscle jerks (quite violent sometimes where my arm or hand has come in contact with something hot eg. my iron and grill and I have lots of burn marks on me.) Has anyone else had this whilst on pregabalin and has anybody come off it without any  problems. Has your pain increased again cos that's what I am afraid of. Love to know if it is the medication causing these and not another manifestation of the fibro. Take care x

Hi, I was on pregabalin but found it did nothing to help my pain. I came straight off pregablin with no ill effects and went onto gabapentin instead. I still get the muscle twitches and they are getting more pronounced so I'm not sure whether it is a fibro thing or a medication thing. Hope this helps take care xxx

hi  melanie. Thanks for getting back to me. According to my other  replies' it seems as though the twitches and jerks seem to be part of the fibro. I will discuss coming off them with my doctor just in case I get horrible withdrawal symoptoms as I have been on them for eight months at highest dose. The twitches are awful and now they seem to be in slow motion . Really weird feeling. When they happen in my legs it feels like I am walking on the moon for a few seconds and then my legs sometimes go from me. It scares me especially when I am outside shopping or something.Oh well looking on the bright side....I dont suppose many ordinary people like me get to walk on the moon! Take care and keep smiling. Lin xx

Thanks Cherl450 for your quick reply. I will discuss it with my gp ( pain clinic seems to have finished with me as I have no more appointments to attend) My pain has not gone completely with the pregabalin but it is better. I still dread mornings and getting out of bed. The pain in my legs, hips ankles and hands is awful but once I get my first pregabalin and two co-codomol I am not too bad for the rest of the day. My buttocks still hurt k

like hell when I get up after sitting but I just make a joke out of it now and pretend to quack like a duck---hey I walk like one so why not.

Wishing you pain free days, take care Lin

Thank you for your comments Cherl

They were very kind. I will get back in touch with paqin clinic but I think I have to go through GP again. I have never been offered anything stronger than co-codomol and I could sure use stronger meds for first thing in the morning. Where do you live? I live in Scotland just outside Edinburgh. Maybe it depends on where you live. Postcode lottery and all that .

                                        Thanks love,

I have been on pregablin and every consultant I have seen has recommended that I stay on it as it is the best thing for me ! I get the annoying and sometimes painful and the thing about walking on the moon I think is probably like what I have explained previously as the waitlessness that you get when a swing reaches its highest point but I get that when I am lying down the worst but do get it all the time. I also have patches of a burning feeling in my arms and legs.

I am seeing a specialist panel to see if my symptoms qualify for the Pain Management Course at Liverpools Walton Centre so I will post on here and let you all know how that goes.

Best of luck to everyone and wishes for the festive season.

Hi sorelin. I to was on pregabalin but had to come off because of side effects.  I had the jerking you mentioned plus was totally disorientated.  I began to see people with three eyes and couldn't function with day to day tasks.  I went back on Gabapentin but it didn't help.  This week going on tramadol.

if you want to come off them talk to your doctor so you be weaned of them.

    take care

    Hi Sorelin

I dont have fibro but do have osteo arthritis, kypho scoliosis {C shap curve inb my back}  spinal stenosis.......havent collected fibro along the way yet lOL

My pain clinic {Northumberland} suggested I go on gaberpentin or pregabalin

When I went for my first hip replacement they automatically give you it a couple of days before hand. When I went for my pre assessment the nurse picked it up and said you shouldnt take that?

I have epilepsy but its well controlled and has been for 33 years {but still take meds} and apparently this is another epilepsy med which would mean I was overedosingeek

There are a lot of meds that have a few functions depending on what doseage you take.  Amitryptilin is a muslce relaxant at a low dose but its for depression at a higher dose

So Pregabilin is an EP med at a certain dose but seems to help fibro at another dose??

    I would say go and see you doctor and tell him what you've told us and see what he says {your GP to start with....I think I've been discharged from the pain clinic as well}

    Good luck......keep us updated

    Love
