I know how you feel Bridy - it's so easy to think everything is OK when you feel well.  I felt fine from day one as I had a vaginal hysterectomy which means I had no external wound to worry about.  I overdid things at 2 weeks and paid the price of a heavy bleed.  I'm sure things will settle back and you'll be fine.  Put your feet up for a couple of days and finish off those Easter chocolates!!

I'm sure you will Bridy.  I was able to get back to running at 5 weeks post op and I feel better now than I have for a long time!  Give it time and you will get there!

      Best wishes

Shani how did you do it? I'm six months post op. but I have never touched gym all I do is a lot of walking at work from 7am to 8pm five times a week.I have gained weight from 77kg to 82 in 6 months . Last week I started having pain from inside where the wound is. The pain can last for less than one minute and go. Can please give me some tips I have to lose this weight as I'm short.

      Hi Veda

I count myself to have been very fortunate in having a surgeon who is one of the best in the country and specialises in 'minimum access and robotic surgery'.  I had a vaginal hysterectomy which means no external wound.  I had no pain, discomfort or bleeding (apart from a blip at 2 weeks post op, which was my own fault!).  I am 62 next month, 5ft 2ins and 7.5 stone.  I have always been small but I have always excercised quite a bit (walking and running) and I think that has contributed to my amazing recovery.  I do have to watch what I eat and if I put on any weight I lose it by replacing 3 evening meals a week with just a bowl of soup - it's that simple and it works!

Best wishes to you and good luck for the future.

Hi Shani, do you think that having my uterus removed might be replaced by the desire to do lots off exercise!!!! If so you could earn a fortune selling this concept!!! My weight has not changed since my op but I find eat a whole bag of pop corn yesterday!!!

It's great to hear such a positive story... You've had a fantastic recovery x

I'm glad I'm inspiring you!  Exercise is often difficult to get motivated about but I always feel so much better after it and I'm sure you will too.  I climbed Helvellyn to celebrate my 60th birthday and planning something similar for my 62nd next month.  I really think that my general good health was the reason I recovered so well from the op.   I'll look forward to your weight loss updates!!   The way I avoid eating too much chocolate is not to buy any!!!

I wish I could have had keyhole, my uterus was too big due to fibroids so had to have abdominal incision, vaginal would have been even better!!!

Take it easy Bridy I have had my pre/op today and the nurse told me I carnt drive for six weeks after as it takes longer with abdominal hysterectomy it's the only way they can do mine as my uterus is very enlarged now and my fibroid is 18cm I will be glad when it's over I'm becoming so anxious worriying. Well done it's a big op but you do need to take it easy. Xxx

Oh Bridy, gosh you don't do things by halves do you, just reading what you did makes me want to go and lie down. rolleyes Do hope you feel better tomorrow, isn't it awful, you feel you can take on the world, us women do not learn!  I think cleaning the oven was the fatal blow.  Please be careful.

As my surgeon signed my discharge form he said to me "you will do things you shouldn't do, and you will get away with it, but be warned between the 6th and 9th week is a danger period so be very very careful.  Once you get past those weeks you can relax a bit!"

I bet you have really frightened yourself.  I think a few days of just pampering yourself are called for.

    Love
