Worried

I had my op 8 weeks ago and had an infection 4 weeks post op which I was treated with an antibiotic and all seemed fine and the symptoms cleared up. The GP did a swab test and I've just had a letter to say they want me to make an appointment to discuss the results. Unable to get an appointment until 3rd May and my mind is doing overtime worrying what they have found !

Hello Rosiepix. Why don't you ring the surgery and ask to speak to your doctor because it's a bit unfair sending you a letter then expecting you to wait almost 2 weeks?

Hi Matron hope your well 😊 Is it normall for stitches to be coming away had my surgery 22nd Dec 😳

I'll try but they are not the easiest receptionists to get by going by previous experience. Do you think they will give me results over the phone? X

Hi debra yes I'm well thanks. Yes it's normal. I know it sounds a long time but some of these dissolving sutures can be a bit stubborn xx

They should give you the results over the phone. My surgery will give test results between 12-2pm so I can't see why yours wouldn't. If you need antibiotics you want to start the course as soon as possible and not wait too long x

Thanks Debra I've had problems with them before trying to see a doctor because I had my op privately ! I think it's bad that you have to wait so long for an appointment x

It's shocking the way they discriminated against you but wasn't there a doctor you saw recently who was really nice?

To be fair whether you had it done privately or not they should be able to tell you and put your mind at rest x

Yes matron and he's the one I have the appointment with but even seeing any if the GP s at the practice the first appointment was only one day before x

GP appointments are so difficult to book these days. Nobody should have to wait so long but listening to the news tonight it seems to be normalΒ

Thing is they are open from 8 am to 8 pm but still no appointments. When I looked at their statistics they have 13000 patients registered and are still taking new patients! No wonder I can't get a faster appointment! It's madness

Hope you get things sorted soon, my docs the same, if I want appt.. got to wait for weeks, and phone every morning in hope of cancellation. Only way is to phone and ask to speak to doctor, and they either give you prescription to pick up or ask you to come in at end of surgery to see them first.

      Phyl xx
