Hi Sarah I started on 75mg and I found it did not have much effect after a few weeks so the doctor decided to increase the dose to 150mg which I have now been on for seven years and that was fine for me it just gave me the lift I needed to start to feel human again I am beginning to regret staying on them for such a long time but I was always worried the depression would return. I know  many people who are taking the higher 300mg but it is your decision good luck

    kindest regards

    Hi Sarah

I'd think long before going  upto a higher dose I was on 300 mg for 8 years I felt suicidal and they wanted to put me on another antidepressant as well however I decided to lower my dose and felt much better I'm now struggling with bad withdrawal effects as I'm trying to come of them altogether and manage my depression naturally

    Hi,

This really shouldn't bother you as I was on 35 mg for a few years and then jumped to 75 mg and then went to 150 mg and never noticed a thing. Hopefully all will go just fine for you, Let us know.

Hi sarah,if I were you I would question why your gp wont let you slowly increase your meds rather than a big leap up,at the end of the day its your body that has to try these things so you have the right to any questionable worries you need to ask him/her,ive been on 75mg venlafaxine for over 6mths and came off them without decreasing first, not recommended but im now 11 days without meds,I dont have any nausia now, brain zaps are much less, hot flushes bearable, occational irritabilty all in all glad im off then, just talk to the gp,bend their ear and just tell them how you feel about everything.....keep us in the loop how you get on,most of all dont stress over it, it only makes it worse....take care
