Would love some feedback on dealing with symptoms from a vitreous detachment

Would love to know if anyone would share some experiences with dealing with  symptoms from vitreous detachment.  Mine started a year and a half ago.  Quick flashes every so often like a tiny lightning bolt.  Some minor black floaters, occasion pin- head black dot and occasional light blue flash.  Got the PVD diagnosis.  Got much better after a year.  Two weeks ago it started up again.  Panicked it was a retina issue, went to doctor and he said all was fine.  Possible residual vitreous issues.  Now I am concerned it will never go away!!  I am a very anxious person when it comes to health issues and I am wondering if the stress could be contributing as well.  Would love some feedback.  Thank you!

I have had PVD for a few months now. At first lots of bright flashes, could see them day and night. Then just at night. Now hardly at all, but lots of black pepper floaters. Have been to see the retinal specialist 4 times, and finally he said to see him in one year. I am to watch for the 'curtain', which I guess is a blackness coming somewhere in the peripheral vision and blocking out partial sight with it. That would mean a retinal detachment, but it is rare even with PVD.

Keep in mind that we all pretty much get PVD at some point as we get older, but how many of us actually go blind? It's smart to watch your symptoms, but please don't let them discourage you or take over your life. As far as my black pepper floaters go, they don't bother me at all, even when there is a lot of them. They're just part of the scenery....just like everything else I'm looking at. These issues can come and go. When the vitreous detaches a lot of things can happen, and it doesn't always detach all at once. So the symptoms can wax and wane. Once it's as detached as it's going to get, you still may have floaters here and there. Again, not usually anything to worry about. Just see your ophthalmologist according to the schedule he/she recommends, and you will be told what symptoms to look for. The biggie is the black curtain. I don't think stress could cause your symptoms to get worse, but it certainly would cause you to be overly concerned. Just trust your doctor and follow the advice given.

Thank you so much for your advice RoLoFon!!  I very much appreciated what you had to share and it was re-assuring!

I have been dealing with this for a year and a half.  It had finally settled down for a few months and a few weeks ago started up again which scares me.   But eye doctor confirmed again it was vitreous related.  Guess I need to calm down and just deal with it.  I can see the same and that's all that matters!!!  Thanks again!!!

I was seeing light smudges on print when reading which was irritating so I made an appointment with an eye surgeon last week.  He did the usual tests and showed me a picture of my right eye (which is the one causing this problem).   A small amount of gel has detached from the retina. He mentioned I had mild PVD and that sometimes it rights itself.  Also that I can keep on reading and doing the usual things.

But the fact is I DON'T like reading any longer and I was all set for a simple solution which he didn't have,  Yes, I'm wondering if it will ever go away also.  I have a follow-up appointment in December after I return from the states.  There has to be a solution to this and I'm going to get a second opinion.

Reading was once a joy - now it's crap.  Fed up here.
