Ingredients for Hush-up spicy gluten-free hush puppies
720 ml vegetable oil
240 g cornmeal
120 g amy’s gluten-free mix
5 ml baking powder
30 g sugar
120 g corn kernels
15 ml Cajun seasoning
5 ml salt
2.5 ml black pepper
280 g canned chunk white chicken, shredded
90 g grated onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small tomato, diced
2 large eggs
180 ml full-fat milk
1.25 ml Tabasco sauce
spicy horseradish sauce (for serving)
How to make Hush-up spicy gluten-free hush puppies
Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or large lidded pan to 170°C.
Combine all the remaining ingredients and mix until thick and well combined.
Carefully spoon the mixture into the hot oil, ensuring you do not burn yourself.
Fry for 4–5 minutes, turning the mixture occasionally so it browns evenly on all sides.
Transfer the cooked items to a paper bag to drain excess oil.
Serve with Spicy Horseradish Sauce.
