Frozen chocolate bananas are a delightful vegetarian treat that combine the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with rich, melted chocolate. Coated in a layer of dark chocolate and rolled in crunchy granola, they offer a satisfying contrast of textures, making them a perfect indulgence on a warm day or as a fun snack for kids and adults alike.
These easy-to-make bites are not only delicious but also a healthier alternative to traditional desserts. Packed with potassium from the bananas and the goodness of nuts, they provide a nutritious boost without sacrificing flavour. Serve them as a playful dessert or a quick pick-me-up, and feel free to customise with sprinkles for an extra touch of fun.

Ingredients for Frozen chocolate bananas
2 ripe but firm bananas
170 g dark chocolate, chopped, or semisweet chocolate chips
30 ml vegetable oil
120 g granola
chopped pecans and walnuts
or sprinkles (optional)
How to make Frozen chocolate bananas
Line a baking tray with non-stick foil or baking parchment.
Cut the bananas in half and insert a lollipop stick into each half. Place the banana halves on the baking tray and freeze for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt the chocolate with the oil in a heatproof jug in the microwave, checking every 30 seconds, or in a half-full pan of simmering water for about 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
Roll each banana half in the melted chocolate, then quickly sprinkle with your chosen topping, if using.
Freeze the chocolate-covered bananas until the chocolate sets, about 30 minutes. Serve immediately or freeze in an airtight container for up to a week.
