Ingredients for Individual apple crisp

  • 1 apple, preferably gala, thinly sliced

  • 5 ml fresh lemon juice

  • 15 g light brown sugar, divided

  • 1 g ground cinnamon, divided

  • 30 g plain flour

  • 15 g coarsely chopped pecans

  • 15 g unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 0.5 g kosher salt

  • vanilla ice cream (for serving; optional)

  • a shallow 225 ml baking dish or heatproof ramekin

How to make Individual apple crisp

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (fan 170°C).

  2. Toss the apples, lemon juice, 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon in a medium bowl, then pack the mixture into a baking dish.

  3. In another medium bowl, mix the flour, pecans, butter, salt, the remaining 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon. Squeeze and crumble the mixture with your fingers until it forms little clumps.

  4. Scatter the crumb mixture evenly over the apples.

  5. Bake the crisp for 30–35 minutes, or until the apples are bubbling and the top is golden brown.

  6. Serve warm with ice cream, if desired.
