Ingredients for Spaghetti pie

  • 450 g good-quality spaghetti

  • 15 g butter

  • 3 large eggs, beaten

  • 240 ml homemade red sauce or prepared tomato sauce

  • 1 g coarsely ground black pepper

  • pinch of salt

  • 85 g mozzarella cheese, grated

  • 40 g Parmesan cheese, grated

How to make Spaghetti pie

  1. Bring a large pot of water to the boil and add a generous amount of salt. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until just shy of al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan 180°C). Grease a 23 cm (9-inch) springform pan with butter and set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, red sauce, pepper, salt, and all but 1 tablespoon each of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Add the cooked pasta and toss to coat evenly.

  4. Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared springform pan and sprinkle with the reserved cheeses.

  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is nicely browned and crisp. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before carefully unmoulding.
