MHM was established by families and carers in the North East to provide support and care fo people with mental health problems.

They have grown into a national organisation supporting people with learning disabilities, drug, alcohol and other problems, as well as a core client group of people with mental health needs across the UK. They provide a range of evidence-based and innovative services.

Trained, experienced staff work with partner organisations to deliver comprehensive services to meet a full range of personal needs in a seamless manner. Vulnerable people are helped to 'recover' and move on to independent living whenever possible.

Support is provided to more than 60,000 people each year, covering many aspects of their lives:

  • Psychological and well-being therapeutic recovery interventions.
  • Everyday employment.
  • Housing.
  • Independent and community support needs.
  • Active support aimed at strengthening the voice, rights and independence of the organisation's users, their carers and their friends and families, by challenging stigmas and negative attitudes still associated with mental health, disability and addiction.
