Diagnosed 5 weeks ago spent 12 nights in hospital. last night is the first ive felt no pain. My stomach is still very swollen, im not on any medication how long before the swelling goes down? Each doctor tells me different advice about drinking. Some say no alcohol for 6mths then only beer, no spirits or red wine. Others say never drink alcohol again. Can anyone give me advice on this?

I agree. I do not drink any longer. Had an acute attack and now chronic panc. 4 years ago. If you continue to drink, it could kill you.

I agree with everyone else . I turned 40 last month . I have had Chronic Pancreatitis for 15 years. I been very sick with it the last 6. My specialist said no drinking what so ever. If you drink you could damage your pancreas further and end up with Chronic Pancreatitis which is a life long disease. I have pain daily. I hope you choose not to drink. It's not worth your long term health believe me! Best of luck to you. ......oh PS a heating pad helps make my pain bearable some times maybe try that....
