85% Clear! Tried many, many remedies, this is the first one that worked. It has some side effects but today was the first day in 3 years I wore a sleeveless shirt when I wasn't using Prednisone. 😂

I took ACCUTANE which i think is probably similar when i was young.. I am all for trying ACETRETIN .

Was it hard to get your doctor to prescribe it and was the medication covered by insurance? What were your side affects.? how long have you had GA?

I had disseminated GA for 3.5 years.

The Drug is covered by my insurance, otherwise it is $33 a pill. I went to a well known Dermatologist in Coral Gables that used to be the head of U of Miami Dermatology. He suggested the medicine. I tried everything else. I still have some residual spots of the GA but 85% better. I am supposed to use topical steroids for the smaller areas.

    Hi Lucy,

I have just started taking isotretinoin, (day3), and I'm thrilled to hear that you have had some success with the drug.

Could you let me know what dosage you were on & how long it took to see any improvement?

I would be so grateful as I have been living with this for over 3 years now. I have over 100 lesions on my legs & it is now spreading to my arms & chest. I know the condition isn't life threatening but it really is effecting my mental health.

Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Debra

      Hi Debra,

I have over 100 lesions now as well, and I dont want to leave my home. This is really effecting my mental health as well. Im here for you if you want to talk as it helps me too. I do not have any lesions on my face yet, do you? I pray they find a cure for this awful skin disorder.

How long have you had it? I was diagnosed in August of 2018.

      HI Patti,

Thanks for your message, so sorry to hear that you have been suffering too.

I've had this dreadful skin disorder for over 3 years now.

At the moment I am taking 40mg of Isotretanoin daily. I took 20mg for 4 weeks & have been on the higher dose for about 5 weeks now. As yet there doesn't seem to be any improvement but I am hopeful. Side effect haven't been to bad, skin is a bit dry especially my lips. Having regular blood tests as the medication can effect liver & kidneys, so far so good.

Will keep you posted if i have any success.

Likewise if you have any luck with any treatment please let me know.
