I had my surgery in november 2015. My wound has healed 3 times but after roughly a week breaks down again. Now the third time the hospital i was seeing the nurses at have said to go back to my gp as they can no longer help. Went to my gp he referred me to another consultant, problem is i rang up to book an appointment and got told there isnt any. so now i have an open wound and been left in limbo! any ideas as to why it keeps opening up?

    Hi. My son has had this ongoing problem for quite some time now. They are now talking about him seeing a tissue viability nurse to see why it won't heal. I would say push for that now cos we are now 4 years down the line. Good luck and you have our sympathies .

      Unfortunately i have been seen by one. Just want it sorted as i will be getting married ine just over a month and with this problem i cant help but be worried it will break down and bleed on the big day!

      I can completely understand your worries. It affects everything and my son only wears dark clothing. He has tried silver based dressings and manuka honey cream top. Vit E tablets? No others ideas I'm afraid as we are in same position. But good luck.

      I'm in 8th month of recovery, keeps healing then opening like 1cm ... But rest of wound seems solid and healed...

      And the bit what's opened as now been infected for 4 weeks.. And won't go with antibiotics even so it just will not close.. I have been refered to tissue viability nurse.. Waiting for appointment .. Praying they have the answers as I've been off work now 9 month.. Starting to feel a bit low now etc.. This is one big nightmare

      I've got the exact same problem mate.. Heals then small part breaks open with infection.. Now it's been infected for 3 weeks now and won't close back up

      Am getting referred to tissue viability nurse and am told there specialists in wound healing..

      How come they couldn't help u ??...

      I was really relying on seeing these, haven't got my appointment yet like

      Daniel i really hope it works for you. For me i healed up for a few months. But it just didnt feel right. My wife kept it hairless but then last weekend it bleed again. Went to hospital and have been referred to specialist surgeon. Looks like operation number 2 to remove the tracks that were missed first time. Thats why i wasnt healing

      Has your wound ever fully healed.. Or always been open some were slightly?

      Myn starts at bottom of back, and goes right down me bum crack.. A inch away from bum.. 12cms

      The part what air can get to as healed loverly but the 1cm that has opened is like right inside my bum cheeks.. We're no air gets too...
