Bilateral fibrocartilaginous calcaneonavicular coalition surgery

Hi.

My 12yo was diagnosed with bilateral fibrocartilaginous calcaneonavicular coalition and bone marrow edema, he has sever symptoms and we have an appointment to discuss a surgery with his orthopedic doctor. I read online about it, and recovery seems to be long and hard. I was wondering if anyone here or their loved ones undergone this type of surgery? If so, please tell me about your recovery process.

Just to add, he doesn't have arthritis or flat foot, just the opposite, very high arches.

Tia
