Blepharitis - Which Wet Ones do I use? UK

Posted , 2 users are following.

I've recently started suffering with Blepharitis. I've read on here that quite a few people have had luck with wet ones. Which ones do i buy in the UK, I've seen they do gentle ones?

any help would be appreciated. As its driving me nuts so will try anything to help it go away.

I always found that Blephaclen and Blephasol were the best ones to use. Some recommend Baby wet wipes but they can be a bit harsh. Go onto the Boots website and look for "eyelid wipes" then try each type until you find something that suits you. You will still need to lubricate your eyes several times per day. Dont expect an easy answer to this problem. Ive had it for over 15 years and I only use Simple Eye ointment every night, although it doesnt suit everyone. I also keep Carmize 1% drops for emergencies.

Try to limit your screen use as well.

I just don't even know whats caused it which is so frustrating. I have never suffered with any eye issues. Ive been using eye ointment that the doctor suggested. Baby shampoo and moisturising eye drops. it seemed to clear it. Then its flared up again this morning even though I have been keeping on top of it. Do you wear makeup?

No, I gave up wearing eye make up when it first happened as I thought it may be the cause. It took several years, many trips to A/E and a painful corneal ulcer before I was really taken seriously and I was referred to a Corneal specialist. It can gradually get worse I'm afraid so dont give up on the lubricating. I used the baby shampoo treatment as well but most sufferers will tell you its too harsh, the shampoo takes all the natural oils from your eyes, that you need to keep as much as possible. I think mine was probably genetic as I remember an older member of the family rubbing vaseline along her eyelids every night. I though this was odd at the time....little did I know it would happen to me. Gently working vaseline or eye ointment on a cotton bud along the edges of the lids can be as useful as lid wipes and not so drying. Screen use does aggravate the condition, so I try to keep it to a minimum....not easy if you have to use screens at work. There is no one way that suits everyone...you have to try all sorts of combinations of medications until you find the best that suits you.
