Bowels in an uproar after ruptured appendectomy

I had laparoscopic surgery for a ruptured, gangrenous appendix on June 5 (after only one day of abdominal pain). So now I'm 4-1/2 weeks out. Although I'm healing OK from the surgery itself, by bowels are in a continuous uproar. Nothing but gassy, mostly liquid movements and not sufficient to rid my system of the food that I am eating. I normally eat a high fiber diet that includes a lot of fruits and vegetables, seeds, nuts, fermented foods, etc. Now the only thing I can tolerate is canned fruits and veggies, white rice, bread, mashed potatoes, etc. I know the change in diet is part of this, but I feel like I have the world's worst case of IBS and nothing seems to make it better. I had pneumonia for 3 months right before this, so I was on massive antibiotics for weeks and I know my gut balance is way off. Anyone have a post-surgery experience like this?
