Broken and "fixed" tailbone (coccyx) has turned into 10 years of pain with no answers

My mom (60 yrs old) broke her tailbone when I was young (about 20 years ago); however, did not have any issues and therefore did not seek treatment until around 10 years ago when it started hurting. When she went to the doctor, they discovered that she had a broken coccyx and that the easiest path of treatment was to completely remove the coccyx. Ever since, she has dealt with unbearable pain where the coccyx used to be and has been to multiple doctors with no answers. She currently has a simulator installed in her back to control the nerve pain in the tailbone area, but it has also made no difference. She cannot sit or stand for long periods of time without being miserable and is unable to find work that she is able to do. We are so so desperate for answers. If you've experiened anything similar or have advice, anything is appreciated. Thank you!!
