Can a benign fibroid more than double its size within 4 years?

I've been having terrible periods since the beginning of summer, and thought I must be entering peri-menopause. Last month, I was passing clots the size of golf balls (and larger). Combined with really bad constipation and the need to frequently urinate during my periods, and my dogs sniffing my abdomen repeatedly and looking worried, I eventually saw an online GP, who referred me for ultrasound scans privately.

The scan showed a large mass, about 9-12 cm in diameter. That's bigger than my stomach! I had numerous rounds of unsuccessful IVFs in for the past 7 years or so, and the last ultrasound scan I had from 2019 revealed a fibroid that was around 4cm in diameter. Can a fibroid grow this fast (it's more than double!) within four years?!?

Scared... and wished a doctor had advised me more about it then. The sonographer mentioned it should be investigated more, but at the time, doctors told me fibroids were relatively normal.
