YES YES YES - In my case linked to leg length discrepancy, and if your hip has collapsed you also would have a leg length discrepancy.  The specialists junior assistant denied it to my face, and continued to deny it even when I questioned his opinion, but I am ready for him the next time I see him, I am going to throw the papers that I found on the internet in his face.  There are lots of articles on the internet about leg length imbalance or discrepancy linked to sciatica, look for the ones from hospitals. There is one really good one from Leeds ortheopedic, that has ROSE in its internet name. 25 pages of it. Funny enough my GP was furious when I told him what the Dr at the hospital had told me about sciaitia. I find swimming in a heated pool for about an hour 3 times a week has strengthened up my muscles and that has helped with the pain in my leg. Sitting in a very firm chair, I have had husband put a piece of ply under cushion, and sitting very straight, slumping only seems to cause more pain in my case, seems unnatural for a start but it does help, I got some relief within a couple of weeks.

      Thanks Lyn,

So it is most probably cause of the balance issue. My dr says the same though, we will see after my op next week.

      thanks again,

    Hi Tolga

Sciatic pain is related to the spine, and that is very put out by a sore hip. We change how we walk and you would have changed the length of your leg. The miracle is that it isn't worse for most of us. My back was very unhappy until I had surgery. But it's much happier now at 9 weeks post op.

I have just read an article about the adjustments our

backs make after hip replacements. Those of who have

had two hips replacements must have really confused

our backs, imagine this outburst from your back.....................................'well, first I have to adjust one way,

then you go and have another op and I have to change

my support system all over again!'

how are you going with the crutch situation?

I still take one for a walk each day...a bit like taking

      a dog really.

I've nearly ditched the crutch! I went shopping today and realised I'd forgotten it but I felt so good that I didn't go back to get it.

LOL like a dog. You could get a little lead.

No only right. But the left only has 2mm cartilage left.

Husband got man flu,so I drove to the local store,

got a barbequed chicken, NO CRUTCH.
