Can you get clots back from a chest infection?

Also if you come off blood thinners, how long before you should have a d-dimer? If you have one after a week of being off anticoagulation, will it still show low if you have clots reforming?

i don't think so. I have been to the ER with chest infection multiple times thinking the clot is back but it never did. I personally take eliquis maintenance dose of 2.5 twice a day and my doctor has assured that its safe for long term use and reduces risk of another PE drastically.

if the clots are forming, i think, the anticoagulant shall not interfere with d-dimer reading.
