Clunk click

I had both hips replaced 5 years ago by the super path procedure ceramic bearing surfaces. Everything has been great my recovery was quick and I am able to function quite normally. I do walk a lot with my dogs and I have recently noticed a dull clunk/click from my left (the first replacement) when walking especially on uneven ground no pain no restriction of movement. I am trying to get in touch with the surgeon who did the work. Has anyone else developed similar issues to this ?

Go back to hip surgeon let them hear the click . It could be a tendon rubbing on the join as the hip moves back and forth . Snapping of the iliopsoas can also happen after a hip replacement surgery. The tendon will snap across the acetabular(socket) portion .

Or .... Whenever a hip starts to click, it is usually due to snapping hip syndrome (SHS).

I have ceramic and metal THR. Well actually have had three hip joint replacement's also never experienced clicking.

Other clicking hips the likely culprits include component design and combination, cup malposition, abnormal wear pattern, patient weight, soft-tissue crepitus which is the friction between bone and tendons or components.

Hi, yes Ive had a similar experience with a dual mobility THR using a ceramic head. How heavy was your clunk click experience? I had an extremely heavy occurrence with a loud noise on twisting followed by a shifting sensation.

Thats a long time since you had the work done. I hope it settles for you..
