Hi, I've just found this forum as I'm wanting some advice and help please.

Ok i just just had all my bloods tested and the two tests ive had for coeliac disease, one came back positive and the other negative.

my doctor is sending me onto a gastro specialist to discuss further.

my symptoms are-

I am pretty constipated but i always have been.

I get pretty anxious when im full or maybe eat certain foods like a heavy sandwhich and chips or a bowl of pasta and my heart races fast.

I sometimes get a bloated stomach but its not everytime is eat gluten its just now and again and thats it really.

What are your thoughts on these results?

Im scared about being told i need a biopsy for nothing as im a wimp.

I feel like a fraud please help.

i'd wait for the tests, keep eating what you want and let us know when you get the results.

Thats my plan. Im unsure if i will go down the endoscopy route though as if my bloods state i have CD and the specialist thinks it then i dont want to put myself through an awful biopsy 😦

c.d? if it's what I think you mean, c.d is something confirmed by a set of biopsies, do it like i did through deep sedation. it worked and i don't have to have it again. good luck.

thought so but not entirely sure, the biopsies am key, they will tell you if you have it or not, no they are not nice but for this they are important! good luck! 🤞

it may be your only one, you need to know so go for it, take someone with you and eat a normal diet for you like you normally would, they will probably do a camera and biopsies, if you are scared of swallowing the camera ask for deep sedation, you'll be under only a few minutes, you shouldn't even had to wear the horrid socks!

      Hi Sam

I have already already asked for sedation and they are doing biopsies as well as the camera. Im hoping the sedation makes it easy.

      The socks are sexy lol

aw bless. well at least you finally know.... contact coeliac uk, look online for a company called juvela as you'll get a free starter kit of goodies to kickstart a gluten free diet. let people know, be honest, get a separate toaster and welcome to the gluten free world... 😁 og you should be offered a course to tell you about being coeliac, ask your doctor. do you have any gluten free stuff? eat something bland and start to gluten free now. 🤞😁

free stuff! Brilliant i will sign up now.

Its a lot to take in. Im going to just start with cutting gluten out of my diet first, then worry about the cross contamination another time.

I don't have much damage so I have managed to catch it early.

I have signed up to coeliac uk however, i have no idea what i am looking for on the site ☺

hi becky, it's lot to take in and lots to do but it will heal any damage the stricter you are to begin with. ask to speak to someone initially, they can then offer you advice and take you through anything you want to know bit by bit. if you go shopping and take your phone with you you can find out if you can have certain things. if you eat meat and fish it's easier and if you're not allergic to anything else then happy days! i have allergies and am veggie. tough! most chocolate is g/f , some alcohol like vodka is naturally g/f , fruit, veg etc is naturally g/f. learn to read ingredients, i think you can get an app for where you do your major food shopping and stuff should be labelled. good luck, see how ypu do - remember red, white, blue and have no rye, wheat or barley. the toaster is vital as bread that has gluten in cross contaminates quickly!

I do eat meat and fish thankfully and im not allergic to anything else.

Looks like i need to order a new toaster then. I was just going to clear mine out.

I'm going to get in touch with a dietitian to help me out i think. I think i can get my head around it at home its just eating out - which i do a lot. Plus airports, on a flight, takeaways and parties like buffets I have no idea about.

I think M&S are pretty good at GF stuff. Its like being at school all over again all this learning.

I almost want to just forget what my results are and forget about it 😦

hi Becky, aw bless you 1;step at s time! meat and fish will help you won't be limited. watch out for breadcrumbed anything, hence gluten overload, you can get fish.fingers, pies sausages etc. that are gluten free. most supermarkets will have free from sections, unless you live on a remote island or anything? marks do yummy things Sainsbury's do lots of stuff, Tesco's, asda etc. you will find plenty for you, i have found less for me. you have to have guts when out to say i am coeliac. certain chippies will offer gluten free nights, they have oil that is swapped on particular days, pizza places definitely do gluten free, watch out for chinese take aways and indians too. some things are easier than others. keep asking, speak to a dietitian and see if the courses are offered any more. watch out for certain things like soy sauce!
